Course Summary
The PIA S5 Overhead Survey (Pole Survey) course equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to carry out safe and effective PIA pole surveys on the Openreach overhead network. The course combines theory and practical assessment to ensure surveys are completed correctly and in line with Openreach requirements.
Learners develop an understanding of overhead infrastructure and how to assess poles safely and accurately when planning network build activities.

Late arrival policy: CASS Training Academy reserves the right to refuse entry to any delegate arriving 15 minutes or more after the course start time. Full course fees will still apply.
What You Will Learn
This course is delivered across three core areas. Learners will be able to:
Understand the Openreach overhead network and infrastructure
Carry out PIA pole surveys safely and efficiently
Identify risks, access requirements, and survey outcomes
Demonstrate competence in completing compliant PIA pole surveys
Who This Course Is For
This course is intended for Communication Provider engineers and contract partners who carry out PIA overhead surveys on the Openreach network.
Prerequisites
Learners must hold SA001 or SA001A
PPE Requirements
The following PPE is mandatory:
High-visibility clothing
Safety boots
Safety helmet with four-point chin strap
Gloves
Eye protection
Learners without the required PPE may be refused entry, and course charges will still apply.
Certification
Learners who successfully complete this course will be awarded PIA - S5 PIA Overhead Survey accreditation certificate.

Entry may be refused after 15 minutes
CASS Training Academy reserves the right to refuse entry to any delegate arriving 15 minutes or more after the course start time. The full course fee remains payable in that case.
