Course Summary
The PIA S8 Overhead Cable Installation course provides learners with the skills and knowledge required to install drop cable safely on the Openreach overhead network. The course focuses on correct installation methods, safe working practices, and compliance with PIA requirements.
Learners are assessed on their ability to survey poles and carry out overhead cable installation activities in line with Communication Provider standards.

Day 1 Training: 8:30 am - 4 pm

Day 3 Registration: 8:15 am
Day 3 Training: 8:30am - 1pm
Late arrival policy: CASS Training Academy reserves the right to refuse entry to any delegate arriving 15 minutes or more after the course start time. Full course fees will still apply.

Who This Course Is For
This course is intended for engineers and contract partners working on the Openreach overhead network who are required to install overhead drop cable.
*Candidates over the weight of 18 stone are unable to climb BT ladder systems due to safety restrictions.
Prerequisites
SA001 or SA009 and NRSWA Unit O1
PPE Requirements
Mandatory PPE:
High-visibility clothing
Safety boots with a defined heel
Safety helmet with four-point chin strap
Gloves
Eye protection
Recommended PPE:
Harness
Working belt
Lanyard
Learners without the required PPE may be refused entry, and course charges will still apply.
Certification
Learners who successfully complete this course will be awarded PIA - S8 PIA Overhead Installation accreditation certificate

Entry may be refused after 15 minutes
CASS Training Academy reserves the right to refuse entry to any delegate arriving 15 minutes or more after the course start time. The full course fee remains payable in that case.
