Course Overview
Course Summary
The Smart Awards SA001A Overhead Safety Awareness course is designed for supervisors and planners who need a clear understanding of safe working practices around ladders and wooden poles, without carrying out the work themselves. The course ensures learners meet recognised industry requirements and National Occupational Standards for overhead safety awareness.
The training focuses on key areas, including pole inspection principles and working around joint user poles. Learners gain an understanding of the hazards and risks associated with overhead environments and how safe systems of work should be planned and managed within a telecommunications setting.
The course reinforces legal responsibilities and compliance with health and safety legislation. Learners are assessed on their ability to recognise risks, understand control measures, and apply industry good practice when overseeing or planning works involving ladders and poles.
