The Smart Awards SA031 – Working Safely in a Multi-Dwelling Unit course provides learners with the knowledge required to work safely within multi-occupancy residential buildings. Learners are assessed on their understanding of the risks associated with MDU environments and the control measures needed to work safely in line with industry standards.

What You Will Learn
This course covers one core module: Working Safely in a Multi-Dwelling Unit. By the end of the course, learners will understand:
Relevant health and safety legislation and good practice for MDU environments
What asbestos is, where it may be found in MDUs, and actions to take if suspected (this will not replace a stand-alone asbestos awareness course)
Key differences between single and multi-dwelling units, including access and communication considerations
Common types of MDUs and the hazards they present
Confined space awareness within MDUs and how risks are managed
Safe planning and installation of telecoms cabling in MDUs
Safe working around risers, false ceilings, fixings, trunking, and fire-rated barriers
Learning is delivered through classroom-based theory with practical assessment carried out in a real or simulated working environment.
Who This Course Is For
This course is suitable for individuals working within telecommunications or similar utility sectors who carry out work in multi-dwelling residential buildings.
Prerequisites
Learners must hold SA007, SA029 and SA030, or an industry-recognised equivalent qualification.
Certification
Learners who successfully complete the course will be awarded the Smart Awards SA031 – Working Safely in a Multi-Dwelling Unit accreditation certificate.
