Course Summary
The Smart Awards SA060 – Working Safely in a Medium Risk Confined Space course provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to prepare for, enter, and work safely within medium risk confined spaces. The course focuses on hazard awareness, safe entry procedures, and emergency response. Learners are trained and assessed on safe systems of work, use of equipment, and correct actions during normal operations and emergency situations, in line with industry and National Occupational Standards.

What You Will Learn

Understand legal duties for employers and employees working in confined spaces
Identify risks associated with medium-risk confined spaces and apply control measures
Understand entrant and entry controller responsibilities
Carry out pre-entry checks and safe entry procedures
Monitor atmospheric conditions and maintain safe communication
Move through and exit confined spaces safely
Use emergency escape breathing apparatus correctly
Respond effectively to emergency and evacuation scenarios
Practical assessment is carried out in a simulated medium-risk confined space environment that reflects industry standards.
Who This Course Is For
This course is suitable for individuals working in utilities, construction, or similar sectors who are required to enter or supervise work in medium risk confined spaces.
Prerequisites
There are no formal qualifications required to attend this course. Learners must be at least 16 years old.
Certification
Learners who successfully complete the course will be awarded the Smart Awards SA060 – Working Safely in a Medium Risk Confined Space accreditation certificate.
