Course Summary

This course covers the installation of a fibre to the premises (FTTP) circuit from a termination point in the overhead or underground network through to the customer's property. Learners develop the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to recognise hazards and manage risks when working across both overhead and underground networks during fibre installation. The course also builds awareness of relevant health and safety legislation, helping learners work safely and competently throughout the installation process.

Day 1 Registration: 8:15 am

Day 1 Training: 8:30 am - 4 pm

Late arrival policy: CASS Training Academy reserves the right to refuse entry to any delegate arriving 15 minutes or more after the course start time. Full course fees will still apply.

What You Will Learn

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

• Apply safe working practices for both overhead and underground FTTP installations, including correct selection and use of tools, climbing equipment, and PPE

• Install fibre cables from a pole or underground chamber to a customer's premises, following safe access, correct routing, and proper termination methods using standard FTTP components

• Install and secure fibre cable within a customer's property along the agreed route and terminate it into a Customer Splice/Service Point

• Complete end-of-installation checks and testing to confirm the work meets quality and service readiness standards

• Explain the relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards that apply to overhead and underground FTTP installations

• Understand the importance of fibre cleanliness, accurate labelling, proper documentation, and drop wire recovery

Who This Course Is For

This course is aimed at individuals working in the telecoms industry who are involved in installing overhead and underground cabling to customer premises.

Prerequisites

Learners must be at least 16 years old. Learners must hold SA029, SA001, SA002 and NRSWA Unit O1.

Certification

Learners who successfully meet all assessment criteria will be awarded the Smart Awards SA103 FTTP Installation Pre-Enablement accreditation certificate.
